At first glance, Rethink Presets seemed a bit overwhelming. After spending some time getting acquainted on how this program works, I dove in and gave it a try.
The presets (more a great set of tools, not merely presets) are grouped in comprehensive, intuitive and easy to use sections, in the order that makes the most sense for processing images. Most other presets offer few, if any, individual preset adjustments. This is where Rethink is different: most Rethink presets offer almost limitless ways in which to fine-tune each step of the way, giving one unprecedented control while working in the Lightroom module. I truly only have scratched the surface of this fantastic program, but I already know it will be a big part of my photo editing workflow. Rethink will bring photo editing to a whole new dimension. One important note: I truly believe that Rethink should be looked at as a great toolbox, rather than just another preset program. Once you try it out, that will make a lot more sense. Kudos to David and Jennifer for developing this much needed program that will enhance your Lightroom workflow to exciting new levels!
No one knows Death Valley and all it has to offer – from grand scenes to intricate details – better than David Kingham and Jennifer Renwick. Their passion for the landscape is palpable and they really impressed upon me the value of discovering your own unique artistic vision and finding beauty in the quieter, smaller scenes of nature. David and Jennifer delivered a top-notch workshop that was deeply thought out and well-organized, complete with a pre-workshop zoom meeting to meet the group and cover the itinerary and packing list. They included a variety of field locations as well as classroom time to share images and review processing techniques. Their down-to-earth friendly approach attracts like-minded participants that made for a fun week. It was a special experience - like chicken soup for the creative soul - and I can’t wait to join them again in the future.
I had the privilege of attending the recent Death Valley Black and White workshop. As it turns out this was one of the best workshops I have ever attended. Both David and Jennifer were professional, experienced and knowledgeable. Both proved to be excellent guides and instructors. They were very attentive when needed. As a result I gained all of knowledge both in photography and post processing. I would highly recommend them. I will certainly be looking at another workshop in the future
Hi Joel, Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words about our Death Valley Black and White workshop. We're absolutely thrilled to hear you had such a positive experience and that you found it to be one of the best workshops you've attended!
We really appreciate you highlighting our professionalism, experience, and knowledge. It means the world to us that you felt we were attentive and that you gained valuable knowledge in both photography and post-processing.
We had a blast working with you too, and we're so excited at the prospect of having you join us on another workshop in the future!
This truly was a unique workshop. Generally instructors do not take the extra time to talk about post processing after creating images on location and death Valley. David and Jennifer were excellent teachers. They were very patient and answered every question as though it was the first time ever being asked. On-site on the dunes, David and Jennifer always visited each photographer during the shoot to ask about questions or suggestions or recommendations for composition. Again, they were very patient and helped with the creative process. David and Jennifer never ignored participants for the sake of taking their own images.
Hey John,
Thanks so much for the glowing review of our Death Valley Black and White Workshop. We're thrilled you found it to be a unique and valuable experience.
We loved having you with us and are so glad you appreciated our approach to teaching, both in the field and during post-processing. It means the world to us that you felt we were patient and helpful, that's exactly what we strive for! We truly enjoy sharing our passion with others and seeing your creativity blossom.
We had a blast exploring Death Valley with you and hope to see you on another workshop soon!
Best,
David and Jennifer
David and Jennifer really know the Death Valley location for photographers. What’s more is that they scout the locations in detail immediately before the workshop. In an area where weather dramatically alters the immediate landscape, this is vitally important when you are spending your precious time there.
Unlike many workshops, the instruction gets high priority, with classroom sessions where you learn steps towards that extra special image. In the case of the black and white workshop that I took, it involved David’s workflow that was simple, innovative and gave impressive results. Also field use of your camera divulges features that you never knew your camera had.
Hi Stewart,
Thank you so much for your fantastic review of our Death Valley Black and White Workshop! We truly appreciate your kind words and are so glad you enjoyed the experience.
It means a lot to us that you highlighted our location scouting and the priority we place on instruction. We're passionate about Death Valley and helping photographers capture its unique beauty, and your feedback really validates our approach. We were thrilled to share David's workflow with you and help you discover new features on your camera!
We had a blast working with you and would love to have you join us on another workshop soon.
Thanks again,
David and Jennifer
I recently received the new NiSi JetMag Pro Landscape Magnetic Filter Kit after having ordered it from Exploring Exposure. The kit contained a nice hard shell carrying case, 3 ND filters, (3,6 and 10-stop) a CPL, a rear cap and 2 front caps as well as all the step-up rings I needed to be able to use the filters on all of my lenses. Having been using screw-in filters, I was really impressed with the quickness and ease of using the NiSi magnetic filters. I particularly like the 'bayonet' locking mechanism that secures the filters to the lens so they cannot fall off nor be knocked off by accident. The 'handles' or tabs on the side of the filters make them easy to handle, place and remove as well as rotate the CPL. A quick check of the filters showed no color cast nor vignetting even when I stacked the CPL and two additional ND filters on a 24mm lens.
Being new to a magnetic filter system it took me a little time to get used to the strength of the magnetics, but quickly learned how to effectively and efficiently handle them.
I applied to this workshop almost a year ahead and it was well worth the wait. The sand dunes photo op turned out to be my favorite location. Post-processing using Davids techniques was a new experience. When I returned home, I had tons of problems with the above. A week later I transferred files to a different computer then updated all programs. Now all is well and running. I can't wait to experiment with images. I appreciated the rotating individual help both David and Jennifer provided at all locations.
Hi Jeff,
Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the Death Valley workshop and found the sand dunes to be a highlight. It was our pleasure to provide you with individual support throughout the experience. We’re excited to see what amazing images you create with your new skills and can’t wait to work with you again in the future!
Best,
David and Jennifer
This was my first Workshop with David and Jennifer. My primary goal was to gain experience in processing images in B&W. I accomplished this and much more. David and Jennifer know Death Valley like their own backyard. The locations were superb. David and Jennifer were always available to assist while I struggled with camera settings and compositions. The classroom presentations and discussions were invaluable. I look forward to attending another workshop with them in the future.
Hi Richard,
Thank you so much for your fantastic review! We're thrilled to hear that you gained valuable experience in processing B&W images and that you enjoyed the locations we chose in Death Valley. It was a pleasure to assist you, and we're glad the classroom sessions resonated with you. We can't wait to work with you again in the future, there's always more to explore!
Best,
David and Jennifer
This workshop was a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding experience! David and Jennifer set the tone for a fun loving, growth experience. A milieu was established where photographers of all experience levels were welcome and provided with the appropriate level of input and feedback. I was gently pushed beyond my comfort zone which is a great place to learn! I highly recommend their workshops.
I highly recommend David’s mentoring! David assisted me by reviewing my images and providing constructive feedback on composition and post processing. This was augmented by improving my post processing skills. Surprisingly, I was able to simplify and reduce post processing time, while significantly improving my ability to realize my artistic vision.
In regards to artistic vision, I thought it would take years to identify my artistic style; however, with David’s help I was able to reach that goal in a few weeks. He accomplished this by having me share the photographers I admire and guiding me through a subset of their images asking me to share which ones resonated with me. He then helped me to identify the attributes of my preferred artistic style and the weather conditions that lend themselves to my artistic/photographic vision.
Wherever you are in your photographic journey, David can assist! The best photographic investment I have ever made by far!
My first trip with David was in August 2014. My most recent trip with David and, now, Jennifer, was last month, October 2024. In between, I took 6 other trips to places including Death Valley, Anza Boreggo, Yellowstone and Coyote Buttes. I continue to travel with them because, first, and most important, they have scouted the areas and know where to go to find really good photographic opportunities. Their taste is impeccable. They get you where you want to be.
Almost equally important is that both of them are just good people. They are easy to relate to and fun to be around. They are patient and helpful, always concerned with the group and not their own work. And, speaking of their work, if you look at what they’ve done over the past few years, you will see how highly regarded their work is.
I have no doubt that I’ll be traveling again with them.
Hi Mark,
It's always a joy to see you, and your kind words truly made our day! Your continued support means the world to us, and it’s been an incredible journey sharing all these adventures together. We're thrilled to know that our scouting efforts and companionship have resonated with you, and we genuinely look forward to creating even more memorable experiences together in the future. Until the next adventure!
Warm regards,
David & Jennifer
During my private lesson with David, I requested processing advice for several images taken in Death Valley. I was so impressed that David did not take a formulaic approach, but rather, he took the time to discuss my personal style before beginning our session. His first question was: “Where do you want to take this image?”. He clearly wanted to explore and understand MY creative vision, before delving into the technical aspects of processing! To help me gain clarity, he asked permission to make a series of observations around some common elements that he had seen in my work, and asked me to provide feedback on his observations. With this approach, David did so much more for me than helping me process a few images, he helped me to identify, and embrace, my own creative style! I’m grateful to both David and Jennifer for helping me to learn and grow, and I’m finding so much more enjoyment in Photography now that I’m creating images that represent my own unique vision. I highly recommend their workshops, as well as online 1:1 sessions!
We're absolutely thrilled to hear about your positive experience with our private online mentoring session! Delving into your unique creative vision was a pleasure, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to explore and nurture your style alongside you. It's wonderful to know that our sessions have reignited your joy in photography, and on behalf of Jennifer and myself, thank you so much for your kind words and recommendation. We're excited to see where your newfound clarity and passion will take you next!
Once again, David and Jennifer provided us an educational and artistic experience in Yellowstone. Even though the weather was less than perfect, they know the Park so well, they were able to guide us to places that worked well with the weather we had. In addition to knowing the appropriate locations for various conditions and times, David and Jennifer provided both technical and artistic inputs to participants, in the field and classroom.
This was my third workshop with David and Jennifer. I highly recommend their workshops if you'd like to experience interesting places, learn new skills, and expand your photographic artistry under expert guidance.
We're thrilled to hear you had such an enriching experience with us in Yellowstone! Navigating the unpredictable weather is all part of the adventure, and we're delighted that our familiarity with the Park helped make the trip memorable for you. It's always a joy to share our technical and artistic perspectives and to see participants like you thrive. Thank you for your continued trust in our workshops; we can't wait to explore more captivating places with you in the future!
I am heaping praise on Jennifer and David’s Yellowstone Intimate Landscapes workshop. Their love for the park was contagious, and they provided ample opportunities for in field and classroom learning.
In the field, David and Jennifer pointed out photographic opportunities to consider and then gave us the opportunity to discover what engaged us visually and emotionally. If requested, they provided composition suggestions and instruction on techniques ranging from photo stacking to exposure blending.
Each afternoon participants shared images created during the workshop, with one of those session devoted to insightful but friendly image critique. Afternoon sessions also featured lectures on a range of topics, including black and white photo processing and contemplative photography.
In addition to these ample learning opportunities, participants enjoyed the breathtaking beauty of the park and a collegial environment with a group of fun and talented photographers. This was an all-around fantastic photography workshop experience.
Thank you so much for your kind words about our Yellowstone Intimate Landscapes workshop! We're thrilled to hear that our passion for the park resonated with you and that you found the balance of fieldwork and classroom learning beneficial. Your feedback about the image critique and lecture sessions is highly appreciated, and we’re delighted that you enjoyed the camaraderie among participants. Jennifer and I look forward to creating more memorable and educational experiences in the future!
I have just come home from a wonderful week of photography with David and Jennifer -- and 7 very nice and talented participants -- in Yellowstone. David and Jennifer are excellent leaders, knowledgeable and helpful but low key, letting each of the participants photograph their vision, which is so important.
I learned a lot, had fun, and had the opportunity to photograph some amazing landscapes. This was flat out the most fun week of photography I have ever had. Thank you David and Jennifer for an amazing week.
P.S., I will be attending other workshops run by David and Jennifer!!
Thank you so much for your kind words and glowing review! We're thrilled to hear you enjoyed the Yellowstone Intimate Landscapes Workshop and found it both educational and fun. It was a pleasure having you with us, and we appreciate your acknowledgment of our approach to fostering each participant's unique vision. We look forward to seeing you at future workshops and sharing more incredible photography experiences together!
This was my second photography workshop with David and Jennifer. They're both very approachable and knowledgeable in the field and in their editing process. Their intimate knowledge of Yellowstone National Park is impressive and also very beneficial as they know the varying locations to get great photographic opportunities and can pivot at a moments notice if conditions change or aren't as favorable. They ensure their workshops are a great learning process and they meet you where you are with your photographic experience and your goals. I highly recommend their workshops and will hopefully be doing another one soon!
Thank you so much for your kind words and continued trust in our workshops! Jennifer and I are thrilled to hear that you find our approach and knowledge beneficial. It's always our goal to provide an enriching experience, tailored specifically to each participant's needs and abilities. We can't wait to explore more fantastic locations with you in the future!
David and Jennifer ran a well run workshop. They struck an excellent balance between providing guidance and givinig participants the freedom they needed to make creative images. This included time in the field, classroom lessons and critiques. They were welcoming and encouraged camaraderie.
Thank you so much for your kind words! Jennifer and I are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the balance of guidance and creative freedom, as well as both the field time and classroom sessions. We're passionate about fostering a welcoming environment and it's wonderful to know that the camaraderie was a highlight for you. We truly appreciate your feedback and we are looking forward to seeing you on another adventure soon!
David did an excellent job of providing constructive criticism on my portfolio. He reviewed composition and suggested tweaks to my editing. ... After a few more sessions with David, I posted a more comprehensive review. See above.

It’s our mission to support and enhance your photography skills, and we’re glad that our suggestions made a positive impact on your work. David and Jennifer work so hard to make their workshop first rate. On the field they stayed with us offering ideas, suggestions and help. They checked the weather conditions and planned the areas to visit accordingly. David even had a rainbow app to help us plan the rainbow timing at the waterfall!!1 The daily processing workshops were detailed, inspiring, and helpful. I enjoyed this photography workshop and highly recommend it.
Thank you so much for your kind words! Jennifer and I loved having you join us and are thrilled to hear you found the ideas and suggestions helpful. It's great to know that even our rainbow app added to your experience! We're passionate about making every workshop enriching and enjoyable, and we appreciate your high recommendation.
This was hands down the best photography workshop I’ve been on. David and Jennifer know how to balance both the technical and creative aspects of photography. They are extremely encouraging and check in on you during shooting sessions just the right amount. I learned so many things well beyond what I expected. This workshop helped me step up my game big time. Stop reading reviews and just sign up already!
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the workshop and that both the technical and creative guidance helped you step up your game. It was a pleasure having you with us, and your enthusiasm truly made the experience special for everyone. Can't wait to see the amazing photos you continue to capture!
This workshop was phenomenal thanks to David and Jennifer. They are both fantastic photography instructors individually, but as a team, they shine. Not to mention, they know Yellowstone inside and out - they knew where to go, and when, for amazing photography opportunities. They are there to support you, answer questions, or let you "do your own thing". Yellowstone is a photographer's paradise with opportunities for a variety of photography - grand landscapes, intimate scenes, abstract, ICM, you name it! I walked away with a new love of for the small scene, and new techniques to apply. Another great thing about the workshops that David and Jennifer lead are the participants they attract. Our group was great and really clicked - no "know it all" participants or folks not willing to listen and learn. Great people attract great people! 100% recommend!
Thank you so much for your heartfelt review! Jennifer and I are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the workshop and appreciated our knowledge of Yellowstone. It’s wonderful to know that you walked away with new techniques and a fresh perspective on photography. We’re also glad that the group dynamics added to your experience. We’re looking forward to seeing you on another adventure soon!
On our own, we would have been so lost wandering up and down the Narrows looking for the light to hit those canyon walls just right but Jennifer and David had it timed to perfection and we spent the day moving from one jaw dropping scene to the next. Jennifer and David also gave wonderful instruction and worked with each participant one-on-one to help everyone at their own level. I especially appreciated their individual approach that opened up more possibilities for my own photography. They were great at working with me and guiding me to realize my own vision.
The practice and play work we did along the river to learn more about photographing intimate scenes was fun and useful.
The whole workshop was great fun and the camaraderie of the group was fantastic. I couldn't have been happier with the workshop overall.
Thank you so much for your heartfelt review! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed our timing and guidance in the Narrows, and we're delighted that our individual approach resonated with you and enhanced your photography journey. It means a lot to us that the practice along the river and the group camaraderie made the workshop memorable for you. We can't wait to see how you continue to develop your vision, and we hope to explore more stunning scenes together in the future!

They do an excellent job of scouting locations prior to the workshop to ensure that attendees have the chance to capture the best possible photos while on location. I would strongly recommend taking any workshop from David & Jennifer. They are kind and smart about all things photography.
