Recommended Lighting for Night Photography
I use two of these light panels when I need consistent lighting for doing panoramas
I highly recommend High CRI LED for light painting to reproduce extremely accurate colors, this is one of the cheapest options out there currently. You will also need a special 18650 Battery which is rechargable with this special charger Nitecore i4
Xenon bulbs have a very warm tint and work incredibly well on red rock found in places like Arches National Park
When you’re looking to get creative with your lights this is the gel kit to have. An infinite number of color possibilities.
I do not use this light for light painting, but instead for maintaining my night vision. Check out my blog post Flashlight to Retain Night Vision to learn why I recommend this light.
Another light that I don’t light paint with, but it plays an even more important task; getting me to my location! It has a very bright LED for finding the trail that is dimmable to a very low level. It also has red lights to help with night vision, although they don’t get as dim as the Rigel.
