Backpacking FAQ

Backpacking involves carrying all the necessary gear to survive in the wilderness for several days, this means all of your food, shelter, clothing, etc. This is an exciting adventure to get into true wilderness and disconnect with the hustle bustle.

Do I need to bring my camping gear?

I will outfit you with a tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and backpack unless you would prefer to bring your own gear. You will need to bring your own clothes appropriate for the conditions, it can be considerably cold during some of the trips. Please contact me if you need specific recommendations on what to bring.

What about food?

We will be eating dehydrated backpacking meals for dinner along with bars and other snacks for the rest of the day. Please let me know if you have any dietary restrictions, you are free to bring your own food too, just make sure it is appropriate for backpacking.

How do I take care of my ‘business’? You know what I’m talking about…

At some locations there will be a pit bathroom available in a typical campground. In remote locations you will need to dig a hole and take care of your business outside, prima donna’s need not apply, this is real camping!

What physical condition do I need to be in?

‘Physically fit’ would best describe it. You will be carrying a heavy backpack full of the gear you need to live for several days, going uphill for a long distance at high elevation. This is no joke and you need to be prepared for it. You should also arrive at the locations at least one day in advance to acclimate to the altitude.

Is there more?

Yes, this is abbreviated to only cover a backpacking trip, please read the General FAQ for the rest of the story.
